I WILL TRAIN YOU TO RUN
YOUR GRIEF AND LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

Picture
In addition to my many years of experience facilitating grief and loss support groups, I have also devoted a significant part of my professional life to training support group facilitators, volunteers, caregivers, educators, and helping professionals in the sensitive and complex work of supporting grieving individuals and families.
As a qualified thanatologist, educator, grief and loss counsellor, facilitator, and public speaker, I have conducted numerous workshops, seminars, educational presentations, and training programs addressing bereavement, grief, trauma, caregiving stress, emotional resilience, communication skills, and compassionate support practices. These workshops and support groups have been offered in a wide variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, community organizations, faith communities, and non-profit organizations.
Among these initiatives has been the longstanding biannual Good Grief Workshop for Children and Teens, held at Selwyn House School in Westmount. These workshops were created to provide children, teens, and families with a safe and supportive environment in which to explore grief, loss, emotions, coping skills, and healing through education, discussion, and expressive activities.
Over the years, I have assumed full responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating these events, including the recruitment, preparation, supervision, and ongoing support of facilitators and volunteers. I understand the many emotional, practical, and interpersonal dynamics involved in creating successful grief support programs, and I recognize how important it is that facilitators feel properly prepared, emotionally grounded, and confident in their roles.
If your organization, company, church, school, healthcare setting, hospice, or community group is planning to establish grief and loss support groups, I can help you develop a program that is compassionate, professional, emotionally safe, and responsive to the needs of your participants.
Training may include:
  • Understanding the grieving process and the many forms grief can take
  • Group facilitation skills and communication techniques
  • Creating emotional safety and confidentiality within groups
  • Supporting children, teens, adults, seniors, and caregivers
  • Responding appropriately to intense emotions, trauma, and crisis situations
  • Boundaries, self-care, and facilitator resilience
  • Planning meaningful support group sessions and workshop content
My goal is not only to help organizations create effective grief support programs, but also to equip facilitators and volunteers with the knowledge, confidence, sensitivity, and practical skills needed to support grieving people with compassion, dignity, and care.

Grieving is a process that takes as long as it takes. There is no expiration date on our grief, just as there is no expiration date on our love for the person who has died.
